Puttur: Bantwal youth arrested for sexual assault of nursing student in Mysuru

Puttur, Aug 11: A 23-year-old youth from Bantwal, who was absconding after sexually assaulting a college student at her hostel in Mysuru, has been arrested by Uppinangadi police on Friday, August 10.

Mohammed Althaf, a resident of Nellipalike in Maninalkur village in Bantwal is the arrested person.

As per details available, Althaf had entered the ladies hostel of K R Hospital in Mysuru and molested a nursing student on July 20. The accused had gained entry to the hostel after threatening the security guard. The accused had sexually assaulted the student and managed to flee from the spot. CCTV cameras had captured the image of Althaf. He was also accused of stealing the garments of ladies from the hostel.

The incident had led to huge protests in Mysuru and the students had left the hostel in protest. The local associations too had pressurised the police to nab the culprit.

The police team led by Uppinangadi SI Nanda Kumar had sought report from Devaraj police station in Mysuru.

The police team managed to arrest Althaf while he was working as a daily wage worker in a farm in Belthangady.

    Poor animals like goats are also not safe due to such people. This is all because of way they are brought up in family & the abuse they see & undergo as children at the hands of society like poligamy, rape within family, abuse as children at hands of family members & outsiders or weak legal system by which they have repeated crimes & got away. Gender equality & gender justice is directly related to crime against women.

    ..SC recenlty said women raped'left right & center' in INDIA..but SC should know that many cases pending in courts and crawling in snail pace..if justice fare & quick, this wont reoccur..police only catch culprits, but courts decides..if hearing drags, case fails..recently some cow thiefs caught..just look at the cases they had..more than 20 serious cases, still out roaming...talk about corruption, Chidu family daily getting bail on every case..

    The Major problem and also funny with our law system is even after capturing his image in the CCTV camera which is the Strong evidence against the culprit, Indian law will bail him out Due to lack of evidence and he will roam free and his next Target will be innocent girl of rape , This guys should be hanged or minimum punishment should be chopping of his nose which will indicate the rest of the world he is a rapist ......
