Puttur, Aug 12: A woman, who believed a mobile SMS which promised her of a car and paid money in advance to get the same and got cheated in the process, complained about the issue to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The PMO has instructed the Kadaba police to investigate the same. The police have promptly registered a case in this regard.
Nagaratna, a resident of Kodimbala had lost an amount of Rs 25,900 in the month of April 2018. She had received a message on her mobile saying that she is the winner of a lucky draw and has got a Safari SUV as the prize. Nagartana was instructed to pay Rs 6,600 to a certain bank account number of Jharkhand in order to get the prize. When she promptly deposited the said amount, she was asked to pay another Rs 12,000 citing some other reason. The gullible lady deposited this amount also.
Nagaratna was further asked to pay an amount of Rs 6,000. Without informing her family members, she deposited the amount again in the mentioned account. However, after some time she came to know that she was taken for a ride by the fraudsters.
As per the information given by Prakash Devadiga, sub-inspector of Kadaba police station, they are trying to collect information of the bank account that was provided to Nagaratna by the fraudsters.
It is an irony that despite repeated alerts by media and police. people are still falling to the enticement of online and mobile fraudsters.
