Udupi, Aug 13: Konkani drama ‘Vechogi Ravncho’ by ‘Saangon Mugdana Kalakar’ received a tremendous response in its first show in Udupi when it was staged to houseful audience at Town Hall Udupi on Sunday August 12.
Chief guest Walter Nandalike, Managing Director of Daijiworld, said “As it is raining heavily outside, there will be shower of laughter inside the auditorium. The people gathered here shows that people of Udupi diocese love Konkani. After 5 years, a Konkani drama is held here in Udupi. This must continue our drama culture and should take Konkani to another level. I wish all the best to ‘Niranthar Udyavar’ who are the organizers of this event,”
Another chief guest Fr Chethan, Editor of ‘Uzwaad’ fortnightly said, “Karnataka has Bengaluru as its capital, now discussions are on the way to create another capital. Mangaluru alone is not enough to call as capital of Konkani. Udupi is also on its way to be the second capital. Number of Konkani programmes happening in Udupi is very less now. More and more Konkani related programmes and activities must be held in Udupi also,”
Sponsors and actors of the drama were felicitated on the occasion. The drama written by ‘Haasy Ray Kunvar’ Pradeep Barboza Paladka entertained the audience throughout.
The story revolves around a bus stop and surroundings in a rural area of Mangaluru. The characters that come in the drama are common people. The bus stop has become part of their day life and a centre to share their feelings. Daily happenings around the bus stop are depicted in very funny way. Yhe plot has love and suspense.
All the actors namely, Nanu Marol Thottam, Alphonse D’Souza Moodubelle, Godwin Castelino Attur, Royston Kiran D’Souza Balkunje, , Helvin Barboza Kulur, Laveena Fernandes Pangala and Venicia Rodrigues Alangar received tremendous response from the audience.
Fr. Stany lobo, Chancellor of Udupi diocese said, “I congratulate ‘Niranthar Udyavar’ for organizing this drama. We had to go to Mangaluru to watch a Konkani drama. If we stage dramas like this here, our love towards Konkani will surely increase,”
