Mangaluru, Aug 16: Mangaluru traffic police have installed new LED display boards at KPT, Nanthoor and near Jyothi circle consisting real time information.
The text messages alerting the drivers and commuters are displayed on the board. Apart from it, it also displays the time and kilometres to reach the other destinations.
Messages such as drive safe, don’t drink and drive, don’t use mobile while driving, be safe and wear seat belts while driving, notification to alert the driver are also displayed in the LED board. It also shows the live traffic congestion of other areas of Mangalore other than weather report, wind speed and many more.
Even for the tourists, the display board helps as it shows distance and history of temples and other popular destinations in Mangaluru.
Speaking to daijiworld.com, traffic ACP Manjunath Shetty said,"We have introduced three LED display boards at Nanthoor, KPT and Jyothi which are running on trial basis. If it is successful, we will implement it in full fledged manner. As of now there is no other proposal to put up these LED boards in other areas.”
He further said, “This board is mainly put up to create traffic awareness and educate people about traffic. Even we can see directions for other places, in case if there is road deviation, commuters can see the notification in the display board. It shows the live traffic congestion of other areas too.”
