Dubai, Oct 17: St Mary’s Konkani Community (SMKC) Dubai, popularly known as SMKC Dubai, under the guidance of Boniface Carlo, presented it’s annual event, 'Desert Strings 2008', a charity show to help the needy, on Thursday October 16 at Al Rashidiya Ballroom of Al Bustan Rotana Hotel

As published earlier, ‘Flypside,’ A popular band from Mumbai, flown in specially for this Show, mesmerized the gathering, with some popular Konkani numbers, 'Molbailo Dov', 'Suryachim Kiranam', 'Kithlo Kushecho Dees', 'Claudia' and popular English numbers which forced the crowd to get up from their seats and stick to the dance floor.

The programme started off with a prayer by  spiritual director Fr Freddy. Boniface Carlo, chief co-ordinator of SMKC, welcomed the gathering and read out the purpose behind organizing this event, followed by Fr Freddy officially declaring 'Desert Strings 2008', open.

Sponsors, co-sponsors and benefactors of the event were felicitated with mementos for their generous contributions. Spot prizes, sponsor-a-song, novelty dance, auction, best dressed individual and couples, and prizes on entry coupons were the other attractions of this event.

Good number of audience witnessed this event and enjoyed every moment of it to the fullest. Many prizes were given away for the couples, who danced to tunes of ‘Flypside’.

To conclude the Show, the band presented the latest Hindi hits and non-stop baila, which left the crowd with no other option than dancing to their hearts content.

Popular RJ of Radio 101.6 Malvika Varadhan along with Wendyl D'Souza, A well known compere from Dubai, compered the entire event in her unique style.
