Mangaluru, Aug 17: The heavy downpour from the past few days has resulted in the increase of water level in Netravati River. As a result, the residential areas near Ullal Uliya river bank are inundated.
Water-logging situation is being witnessed since Thursday, August 16. More than fifty houses are inundated. Water is filled in the yards of Uliya resident Wilfred D'Souza, Andry D'Souza, Sunil, Bhavani, Jagadish, Lancy D'Souza, Rufina D'Souza, Remeza, Felix D'Souza, Stephan, Pravin Cutinha, Robert D'Souza, Stella, Rachana and Suzana D' Souza’s houses.
Explaining her sad state, Pramila D'Souza, a local said, “The house yard is filled with water since late night from Thursday. All have kept their belongings in higher places inside their house fearing the rising level of water. Young men gathered and helped people. Floods are seen here after several years. Municipal council officials have visited and promised to open Ganji Kendra for flood victims if necessary.”
