Beltangady: KCWA-CKSK Suvidhya Scheme to help poor youth to pursue education

Media release

Beltangady, Aug 18: Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK), Vimukthi with the support of Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) jointly inaugurated ‘Suvidhya Educational Interest Free Loan’ to help poor youth of Dakshina Kannada to pursue their education.

The inauguration programme was held at Holy Redeemer Church Hall, Belthangady on August 17.

“Today we are very happy to see our dream of supporting poor youth in their education being realised. Though we wanted to implement this scheme, we lacked funds. But today along with KCWA, we are happy to announce that poor youth who are unable to continue their education can avail this facility and complete their job-oriented professional courses,” said Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK) director Fr Vinod Mascarenhas.

“Education should be like flowing river, where water is shared until the last drop. With this, it ensures the well being of the society. Education is knowledge and should be shared. When it is shared, it becomes a powerful developmental tool. Today we are going to support as many as 35 to 40 poor students who want to apply and continue their professional courses. After the completion of their education, these students must get employed and pay back the loan received. This will enable other poor students to use this facility,” he added.

He thanked all the members of KCWA and CKSK for their support in establishing Suvidhya. Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, the vicar of Belthangady deanery, in his inaugural speech, appreciated the commendable humane service of KCWA along with CKSK for implementing Suvidhya 2018.

“The people behind Suvidhya are Indian workers abroad who have generously sacrificed their share for the well being of the poor youth of Dakshina Kannada. Their contribution is not out of abundance but out of genuine painful sacrifice which they make so that back at home, rural students can avail good education,” he said. He also appreciated constant support of CKSK towards the most vulnerable children and youth of Dakshina Kannada.

The education programme coordinator Alwyn Noronha thanked Fr Vinod, CKSK and KCWA for implementing this programme. He called upon the Suvidhya aspirants to make use of this facility and complete their education successfully and extend support to the future generation. Further, he explained in detail the procedure every student has to follow while availing this Suvidhya facility.

Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza, in his concluding address, called upon the youth gathered to make use of this facility asked them to apply for various scholarships for minorities and come out with flying colours. He also requested them to be thoughtful of the future generation.

Fr Edwin, assistant director of Daya Special School welcomed the dignitaries. Lavina Santhumayor anchored the programme. Emilda proposed the vote of thanks.

Great contributions from KCWA for such a great cause. KCWA has done tremendous contributions towards education for the past 30 years of its existence. It is a largest and strongest association, throughout the years supporting and encouraging Konkani language, culture, sports, talents, higher education and so on. Well done KCWA. God bless you all KCWAians.

It gives such a joy to see so many people getting benefitted from the noble deeds of so many people contributing towards this. KCWA has been working towards the education of the poorer section of the society from long. This is another feather in the cap for the KCWA family. Long live KCWA and hope many more such deeds would flow in future.
