Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (DC)

Beltangady, Aug 18: Hundreds of vehicles are stranded on Charmadi Ghat after a lorry toppled in the middle of the road on Saturday, August 18.

The lorry toppled on tenth curve of Charmadi Ghat. As a result, vehicles are trapped on a stretch of about 5 kilometres.

Some of the vehicles are moving towards Kottigehara, it is reported. But the vehicles heading towards Mangaluru to Dharmasthala are stuck in their vehicles as they cannot move.

Since Shiradi and Sampaje Ghat roads are closed, the commuters are taking Charmadi Ghat route.

The continuous rains and the landslides have become nightmare for the commuters for the past one week.

Buses heading towards Mangaluru and Udupi are delayed.

It is such a shame that we cannot make sure two most important cities are well connected.
People suffer at the hands of very governments they have elected to make their lives better.
It is understandable that this year it is purely natural calamity. But have we been prepared ?? Or are we the ones responsible ?? Definitely Yes. Unabated illegal felling of trees and encroachments.
Pity that it is nobody's responsibility until they themselves bear the brunt

It is most unfortunate that a lorry toppled on Charmadi Ghat causing a traffic snarl. It is better that these ghats should be closed during this part of the season where rains are heavy and landslides occur. Nobody can go against nature.

It is surprising to see that the State is unable to permanently solve these 3 ghats's annual recurring issue. God only knows how and where the Congress has drained crores of funds spent already.
Move over, the allied Government, Gadkari will reinstate the ghats permanently.

Mr. Veerappa Moily and Sadananda Gowda are the main responsible politicians for implementing the unscientific Yettinahole Project and now see the disaster on the Western Ghats area. I am not against for providing drinking water to the people but against vested interests in the project. I had mentioned in the past that Mother Nature has its own way of balancing it.
Now Floods in Kerala and severe ecological damage elsewhere. It is time we learn lessons now else it will spell doom for us in the future. There will be more disasters and situation like this.
Mark my these words, even God will also turn deaf and dumb to us if you continue like this. Jai Hind.

Human beings with vested interests along with our some of our politicians played with Mother Nature. Mother Nature has its last laugh and now we bear the burnt of the action of the Mother Nature.
Do not play with beautiful Mother Nature else it will take its revenge bringing in untold miseries. Jai Hind
