Dubai: UAE leaders form emergency committee to help flood-hit Kerala

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, Aug 18: Following flash floods in Kerala, the President of UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Saturday August 18, instructed the formation of a national emergency committee to provide relief assistance to people affected there.

A committee will be chaired by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), and include representatives from the UAE's humanitarian organisations. The committee will also seek the help of dignitaries of the Indian resident community.

Appealing the people of the country, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan tweeted, "The state of Kerala in India is currently witnessing huge floods, the most devastating in a century. Hundreds have been killed; hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Ahead of Eid Al Adha, do not forget to extend a helping hand to our brothers in India.”

“UAE and the Indian community will unite to offer relief to those affected. We have formed a committee to start immediately. We urge everyone to contribute generously towards this initiative. The people of Kerala have always been and are still part of our success story in the UAE. We have a special responsibility to help and support those affected, especially during this holy and blessed days,” he further said.

The massive floods have claimed more than 300 lives in Kerala and thousands have become homeless.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces have extended their heartfelt condolences to those died due to floods in Kerala.

Great words from UAE leaders.Their help will be a good backing to help people who are in great need.I at the same time doubt whether all this help pouring in from all over really reach to the needy. There must be someone responsible person should look after these funds.Very sad this time kerala is hit with such a floods and people died.May their osuls rest in peace.we shouldnt think why should we help etc.we only have to think about some humanity side, their inability to do anything ,with these catastroph.Tomorrow it may hit us too same way.

    @ Jayesh,

Suppose, even If I know that there are 100 people in Kerala and all of them are very bad and have personally harmed me, I swear by Allah that I will help all of them at this disastrous moment of time when they are eagerly expecting from anyone, any kind of help. Regarding my personal dissatisfaction about them, I can think of that after everything goes normal.

    Jayesh, Karkala,
First and foremost, to help needy people, we don’t have to gauge if they have helped others or not. Helping is giving or doing something to someone without expecting any return. Kerala, the part of India, our neighboring State is in dire need of help. Hundreds of people died from the calamity, people have lost their houses and livelihood, government has to spend huge amount of money in rebuilding the damaged infrastructure. When this is the situation in that State, is it right to question if they have helped others? Besides, how do you know if they have helped others or not? If you want to help, please help, if not, please keep quiet. The UAE Government has called for an emergency meeting to provide assistance to the victims. They are grateful to the thousands of Keralites who worked and are working in their country and they think this is the right time to help them in return. Besides, the govt. also asked its citizens to come forward to help the people. What a kind gesture from the UAE and its citizens! When outsiders are going out of their way to help our people, are we not morally obliged to help our own people?

We all know how that much wealth was collected & stored in Temple by Travancore Kings...
Some points from histroy I will mention below...

One of the main sources of the royal income was taxes. They were incredibly high for the lower castes, with marriages, childbirth and even death being taxed. Country boats, ploughs, carts, umbrellas, headscarves, why, even a moustache, were taxed. Mothers were allowed to breastfeed their newborns only after they paid the ‘mulakaram’ (breast-tax) to the local lord, who would then grant permission.
It took a small but bloody revolution during the time when the Maathoor Panikkers were the landlords of Kuttanad to stop the breast-tax. The bloodiest story of the protest was of a young woman (name not known) from Cherthala’s Kapunthala family. She breast-fed her child without official sanction and the news reached the ears of the landlord.

Enraged, he rushed to the Kapunthala house. The young woman faced him fearlessly, irking him further. He ordered her to pay the tax, and she agreed. She went into the house, and returned with her two breasts chopped. She threw them at the feet of the shocked landlord, collapsed and died.

I think like this cursed money & wealth... This wealth was accumulated by looting people..... Even dog will not touch.....

While our Prime Minister Modi is still doing aerial survey, the UAE has announced the formation of a committee to provide urgent help to the people of Kerala, which is bearing the brunt of the worst floods in over 100 years. More than 300 people have died, while hundreds of thousands rendered homeless.
Taking to Instagram, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, shared an incredibly emotional post written by her father Sheikh Mohammed, acknowledging that people of Kerala had been a part of the kingdom’s success story. She wrote, “The people of Kerala have always been and are still part of our success story in the UAE. We have a special responsibility to help and support those affected, especially during this holy and blessed days.”
Earlier Sheikh Mohammed had posted a series of tweets pledging his country’s support to Kerala.

"The people of Kerala have always been and are still part of our success story in the UAE. We have a special responsibility to help and support those affected, especially during this holy and blessed days"- 12:14 PM - 17 Aug 2018 HH Sheikh Mohammed

The BJP central leadership made extensive tours during last assembly elections and PM Modi who camped in Kerala and compared the 'God's own country' to Somalia, is just doing the rituals as his party did in Jammu and Kashmir.

“People of Kerala part of our success story,”twitted of UAE leadership and their gratitude in difficult time is highly appreciable during the Islamic holy month.

Thirty-five of Kerala’s 39 dams have been opened, 41 of its 44 rivers have been flowing above the danger mark and more than 350 lives have been lost, flooding and landslides have destroyed homes and displaced 2,23,000 people.

With unprecedented loss of life and property, the Kerala floods must be taken up as a national issue. Lukewarm coverage by national bias media should be highly critized.

God's own country and Coorg need help. We as Indian should come forward to help them in their difficult time.

EVERYBODY LEARN LESSON WHEN THEY ARE IN BAD STATE.
WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOOD..PEOPLE STARTED TO INFORM ILL-WILL AGAINST ONE ANOTHER'S RELIGION. TOMMOROW IF DISASTER STRUCK..ALL RELIGION COME TOGETHER AND HELP ONE ANOTHER KEEPING RELIGION ASIDE. IF EVEFYTHING TURN TO NORMAL AGAIN SAME PEOPLE STARTED TO THROW MUD ON ONE ANOTHER IN THE NAME OF RELIGION. AFTER ALL IT'S HUMAN MENTALITY. AS FROM LONG COMMUNISM ARE ON HIGH..PEOPLE STARTED TI DIS OBEY GOD AND GO AGAINST NATURE..BY KILLING CALF ON ROAD IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL.
ARE ON RAMPAGE KILLING PEOPLE FROM ONE PARTY TO ANOTHER ARE ON RISE. HIGHEST CONSUMPTION OF LIQUOR IS IN KERALA. BY WHICH THEY GIVEN EASILY SPACE FOR ANTI-NATIIONALS TO FULL FLEDGE ON MUCH EXTENT. IT'S TRUE THEY NEVER THOUGHT OF PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES IN THERE LIFE TIME. ONLY VIEWING THERE CHANNELS AND WATCHING MORE.POLITICAL NEWS AND ARE AFTER FILMS..AND DUSCUSSING ONLY ON THE SAME MATTER. AS AN INDIAN KEEP UPDATE INFIRMATION EVEN FROM OTHER STATES ALSO. . WHICH MUCH ABSENT FROM THERE SIDE. ARE LIVING IN THERE OWN SHELL MUCH. HOW WE CAN CALL THEM LITERATE PEOPLE..?? WHEN YOU ARE NOT BOTHER MUCH ABOUT ONGOING IN OTHER STATES. JUST SEE HOW PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES COME FORWARD AND GIVING HELPING HAND..INSPITE OF UNNATURAL NATURE..?? THAT'S SPIRIT. BEEF EATING ONLY NEVER MAKE A PERSON A GREAT.

    did you understand Jayesh.
Grow up man, dont just fill the free space in comment box.

If all the Kerala duty free winners those who won millions can donate half of that winning prize so much hunger and pain will be relieved. Also, and most of the Kerala rich people within Kerala and expatriate Keralites themselves need to contribute their shares for the needy. In fact, Keralites are damn rich and they have so much in their bank balance either cash or gold. Kerala Govt itself should levy some additional relief taxes to these wealth people to recover the loss.

Hey, my sincere request to you- pls do not comment anything on which you have little knowledge. Secondly, you need little language skill.

Let me tell you something- Kerala is a part of our country. They are in trouble due to natural disasters. When a country like UAE is ready to help them, we need to welcome their courteousness. If modi has done something, as a prime minister, it is his responsibility. No need to mention specially.

Have you lost if bro Jayesh ? This is ain't any Modi magic, UAE is always known for their kind gestures, helping nature, and humanitarian causes. And also the people of Kerala has given a lot of efforts in bringing up the UAE how now it is. This help from UAE is not because of Modi or from any of your dongi BJP members. Just don't politicize the issue here. The people in Kerala, Coorg and other places are in real distress. The ones who are helping is not looking for which group or religion they belong to. I would suggest you also to bring your hands forward and help the one who is in distress and come out of the hatred you show. You're just sick. Wish you a get well soon!

MR JAYESH. THIS IS CALLED TOLERANCE.
LESSON LEARNED FOR YOU: BE TOLERANT TO OTHER RELIGIONS. DO NOT FIGHT BASED ON CASTE. LEARN FROM THEM! THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE IN UAE. U NEED TO SALUTE THEM. IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF PM VISIT. UAE HAS SUCH A GOOD HEART TO TOLERATE ALL RELIGIONS AND THEY DO NOT RESTRICT ANYONE'S FOOD HABITS. DONT JUST BLOW YOUR TRUMPET ON PM. WE ALL KNOW. AND AT THE END....IF YOU ARE EDUCATED AND MATURE INDIVIDUAL DO NOT JUST BLOW THIS TRUMPET.... IT DOES NOT LOOK NICE.
