Dubai, Oct 17: Early on Friday October 17 morning, more than 5000 people took part in the 5th annual Pink Walkathon organized by Burjuman as part of Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. The charity walk, aimed at raising funds and creating awareness for the fight against breast cancer, saw members of public from all walks of life unite to participate in the 3.6-kilometer Pink Walkathon.
Sharp at 8.00 in the morning, thousands of pink balloons were released to mark the start of the walk. A sea of men, women and children of all ages wearing Safe and Sound T-Shirts and caps and were joined by the sponsors like Burjuman, Barclays, Dubai Chamber, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Dubai Healthcare City, along with the survivors of breast cancer.
Burjuman safe and sound campaign is one of the region’s largest and most comprehensive breast cancer awareness campaigns.
Water was provided by Aquafina in the start and also en rote to all participants. Walk marshals were present to assist during the event. Medical assistance was provided by Welcare Hospital. Those who participated have the chance to win:

There were special events like live jazz performance by the fabulous Spice Band, hot breakfast offers from various food court outlets, free drumming with Dubai drums, Pink Bazaar, free arts and crafts corner for kids aged 3-12 years, close up magic, roaming entertainer, free face painting and more for a great Friday morning out.
