Mangaluru, Aug 20: A man was assaulted by a group of people on the suspicion of being a child trafficker. The incident took place at Gurukambala near Bajpe on Sunday, August 19.
Hamza (63) is the person who was assaulted. He is a resident of Kankanady in city, who hails from Katipalla.
Hamza had gone to Gurukambala to make a payment of a loan on behalf of his friend. He was also collecting donations from some houses on account of Bakrid. At that time, a group led by Mustafa Ajmal, assaulted Hamza after accusing him of being a child trafficker.
Bajpe police who heard about the incident rushed to the spot and rescued Hamza. They gave him first aid treatment and let him go home later.
A case stands registered at Bajpe police station.
