Udupi, Aug 21: Sources in Saudi Arabia said that a Saudi national who allegedly was responsible for nurse from Shirva, Hazel Mathias, taking a decision to commit suicide, has confessed to his crime.
As per reports, Hazel from Shirva, working as nurse in a government-run hospital at Al Miqua in Saudi Arabia, had ended her life, having been frustrated by the steadfast advances of a Saudi national. Before ending her life, she had left death note in Konkani and English, explaining in detail the harassment she suffered at the hands of the accused.
The police, who conducted investigation on the basis of the suicide note, had arrested the man concerned. As per the orders of the court, the person concerned will now be given sentence as per Saudi law.
As the accused has confessed to his crime, and this being a case of suicide, it is learnt that post-mortem examination would not be necessary. The case has been investigated by the court, and reports from court, hospital and police departments are ready, and their English translations too have been kept ready, it is learnt. These documents are needed for insurance and other purposes.
As the mortal remains have to be brought to India by changing three flights, it will be sent as soon as ticket is arranged. Because of the intervening five-day Bakrid holidays, the process of dispatch will be further delayed, and the body might reach here only by the month end, sources say.
