Udupi, Aug 24: “There is no Modi wave in the state. Congress will definitely win the local body elections,” said Udupi district-in-charge minister Dr Jayamala to media persons here on Friday, August 24.
Alleging the opposition taking all credit without doing any work, she said that the Congress government has done many developmental works and is also doing the same in the coalition government. The Modi wave might have washed off Congress during the assembly polls but now it does not exist, she stressed.
“The opposition party misled people by creating a false image of Congress. Everyone knows what former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj has done for his constituency and the fund he brought to Udupi. All MLAs of Udupi district have worked their best during their tenure. The coalition government will stand by people and is for the people. We are fulfilling the promises we had done during the election period regarding debt waiver for farmers and we are also continuing the previous government’s schemes. Who will do more than this? I have strong belief that people are peace lovers and I have confidence that they will bless us,” she said.
Jayamala confirmed to campaign for the upcoming CMC election. She also started the door to door visits and visited municipal wards of Udupi and requested people to cast vote.
“I am not a star campaigner, but Congress’ development work is the star here. The Congress will win the local body election. The people will make them win by seeing the works of coalition government and last government’s development. The farmers' debt waiver will help in Congress victory,” she said.
Udupi district which was affected by flood has already received Rs 25 crore as relief fund. We have demanded an additional Rs 75 crore from the government. We are proud that the coalition government is working in favour of people. The BJP is asking for a vote without doing anything. We will work and ask for a vote,” she said.
Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA Gopal Poojary, and Block president Satish Amin Padukere were present.
Jayamala campaigned at Kakkunje, Bannanje, Kodankur, Subrahmanya city, Peramballi, Kasturba Nagar.
