Mangaluru Aug 25: KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, on his visit to city on Saturday, August 25, criticized Modi for allegedly protecting Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.
Addressing media here on Saturday August 25, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, "We will triumph in ULB elections. Congress successfully finished the term of five years with several people-friendly schemes like Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya and schemes for women and farmers. Congress did not fail to keep any of its promises,”
"Even though we have lost in previous elections, no one is saying that Congress was corrupt. The development works are going on like before in all constituencies and we are confident that Congress will gain upper hand in the ULB elections,” he added.
When asked about Siddaramaiah's aspiration to become CM again, Gundu Rao said, "I am not sure in what situation he expressed this aspiration. Earlier he had also said that he will not contest the elections. But as of now, there is no plan of changing the chief minister,”
When asked about candidate selection for Lok Sabha elections, Gundu Rao said, "We have not discussed in detail about selection of candidates for Lok Sabha elections,”
Condemning BJP and Prime Minister Modi, he said, “BJP has created more problems in the country than expected. Prime Minister Modi had promised several things four years ago. Presently the report card of Modi says that he is a complete failure. He promised to bring back money to India from abroad, but unfortunately the Indian money is going abroad through Nirav Modi and Choksi. It shows that Modi is protecting the corrupt people and he is a paper tiger,”
Former MLA J R Lobo, Mayor Bhaskar Moily, District Congress president Harish Kumar, KPCC general secretary P V Mohan and others were present.
