Belagavi, Aug 25: A Maruti Omni van allegedly used while plotting the murder of Gauri Lankesh has been seized by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Belagavi. It was in this van alleged shooter Parashuram Waghmare and his accomplice Ganesh Maskin changed clothes immediately after the crime.
The SIT is now trying to recover the Maharashtra registered bike used by the shooter and his accomplice, to escape after killing Lankesh at her home in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on September 5, 2017.
According to SIT sources, the accused shooter Parashuram Waghmare who shot Gauri and the bike rider Ganesh Maskin rode to the NICE road underpass on the bike after the crime. Here, suspects Amit Baddi and Bharat Kurne were waiting for them in the Omni van. Maskin and Waghmare changed their clothes, shoes and helmets and left to an acupuncture clinic at Kumbalgodu owned by another accused Mohan Naik.
The SIT officials revealed that two days after committing Gauri’s murder, the six key players including Amol Kale celebrated in a property belonging to Bharath Kurne. They also practiced their firing drills here, they added.
