Mangaluru: Mangalore University accused of conferring BEd degree illegally

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 26: Former member of Mangalore University's academic council, Abhishek Ullal, charged the university with granting BEd degrees wrongfully to several people. He was addressing a press meet held here on Saturday, August 25.

"Because of irregularities, Mangalore University has reached its nadir now. I demand the university to find out the cases where BEd degrees were wrongly conferred, and withdraw them immediately," he said.

Abhishek claimed that a Kannada lecturer working for Narayana Guru College at Kudroli is one of the persons who has secured this degree with ulterior means. "He has been working as full time lecturer of the said college since 2002. But during the academic year 2004-06, he obtained B Ed degree through Prasanna BEd College Beltangady. How can a person working full time as lecturer, mark his attendance all through the year, draw salary and at the same time, attend a college located 70 km away and obtain BEd degree?" he wondered. He also pointed out that during the said period, the lecturer had also worked as coordinator for National Service Scheme of Mangalore University.

"We have filed a private complaint about this episode. The police department has investigated the irregularity and sent repot to the university. But the university has failed to take any action," he alleged.

The press meet was attended by Rohan and Akshat Shetty.

    LOL.
MANGALORE UNIVERSITY. WHAT SERVICE IT PROVIDES TO THE PREVIOUS STUDENTS. IF YOU HAD STUDIED THERE FEW YEARS BACK AND REQUIRE A TRANSCRIPT TO BE SENT OUT, NO ONE WILL REPLY AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE TRANSCRIPTS. IT IS JUST A WASTE OF STUDYING THESE UNIVERSITIES. ALSO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE UNIVERSITY TO SENT OUT THE TRANSCRIPTS TO INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS. SO SHAME.
