Bengaluru, Aug 26: Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, the BJP MLA, who is known for his controversial statements, is in news once again for the wrong reason. He said that public slaughtering of the cow is the reason for the recent devastation in Kerala due to deluge and rain.
Yatnal spoke to the press on Saturday, August 25 and said, "Recently, a cow was slaughtered in Kerala on the road in full public view. It is not even one year since this incident has taken place. Within this short time, they had to pay the price by facing the wrath of the flood."
"The people of Kerala had maligned the name of Hindu religion due to the slaughter of the cow. That is why they have been punished. This is an example of the fact that whoever insults the Hindu religion will have to face the consequences," he ridiculed.
The MLA also said, "Just because there is a BJP MLA in Vijayapura, the number of cow slaughtering has gone down. Compared to the numbers of last year, only 10% cows are slaughtered this year. If the BJP government comes to power, act on banning of cow slaughter will be implemented in full."
