Bishop Peter Paul's Ordination may be taking place far away from where we are located, yet it is an important for us because it pertains to our beloved Diocese that has prospered day after day from the time we are born in Mangalore nearly 80 years ago. We have heard and seen so many Bishops who have come and served our Diocese, and we have seen the Diocese grow from size to size with more Catholics and more new generations.

Retirement of Bishops at a certain age is a marvelous idea. The Bishops work so hard for their Diocese and get involved with so many Parishes and the changing Priests is not an easy task. Besides, now the Dioceses have Colleges of many disciplines, including Medical Colleges, Engineering Colleges, Seminaries and several other Charitable and Educational Centers - all of the above involve financial investments and long term commitments for which the Diocesan control is essential. Fortunately, our Diocese have some brilliant and capable priests and nuns who know the tact and talent in controlling all our Institutions well. Running a Catholic Diocese is a "Big Business" today that need be managed and controlled well.

Ordination of a new Bishop therefore is a 'big event'. We are proud of all the organizational plans that are currently going thru the process, and we wish best of success. We shall be watching this event with a prayerful mind and also a cheerful heart, because it pertains to our Diocese and our Catholic faith.
