Bengaluru: People from every stratum of society offer tribute to Atalji

Bengaluru, Aug 27: Many eminent personalities and politicians of various parties offered condolences to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee when he died. In a similar show of respect and honour to the great leader, people cutting across party lines and famous personalities from every stratum of society offered their tributes to Atalji at the Town Hall in the city on Sunday, August 26.

People who offered tribute to Vajpayee included Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Madara Chennaiah Swamiji of Madara Gurupeeth, Sowmyanath Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Shakha Math, B S Yeddyurappa, state BJP president, Ananth Kumar, central minister, Jaffer Sharif, former central minister and senior leader of Congress, Dr G Parameshwar, deputy chief minister of Karnataka, P G R Sindhia, senior vice-president of J D (S), Dr Chandrashekar Kambara, Jnanapeetha award-winning litterateur, Dr M Chidanandamurthy, senior researcher, Dr Doddarangegowda, recipient of Padma Shree award, Mukund, national joint general secretary of RSS and numerous other eminent personalities.

All those who spoke on the occasion lauded the universal stand of Vajpayee, his style of taking his fiercest critics into confidence and his political maturity which he showed by ruling the country for five years by taking the help of 24 political parties.

The speakers appreciated Atalji's approach as a senior leader, his generosity, his thoughts with regards to the development of India and his foreign policies. Many of the speakers said that it was Vajpayee who sowed the seeds of development of India, which is recognized throughout the world today.

P G R Sindhia dedicates his book to Atalji

Senior vice-president of J D (S), P G R Sindhia described Vajpayee as a world leader. He recalled the days that were spent with Vajpayee in the prison during the emergency. Sindhia also said that he is writing a book titled 'Prisoner of Democracy' at present and he will dedicate this to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on its completion and release.
