Kundapur, Aug 27: "The MPs of Karnataka have appraised the horrible devastation of Kodagu district in the recent deluge and subsequent landslides to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he has taken a stock of the situation through defence minister Nirmala Sitaraman, who was sent to Kodagu to assess the ground reality. The accusation that the centre has ignored the victims of Kodagu deluge is not right," said Shobha Karandlaje, MP of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru.
Shobha was speaking to the scribes on Sunday, August 26 at Saligrama, Kota near here, where she had arrived to campaign for BJP candidates for the upcoming town panchayat elections.
Further Shobha said, "A special grant has been already given to Kodagu. The houses for those who have lost their homes, will be done on an emergency basis using the joint grant of centre and state under 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana' (PMAY-G)."
NH 66 issue belongs to UPA government
"The contract for the four-lane construction of highway was given to Navyug Company during the tenure of the UPA government. So the present issue is the brainchild of UPA government. Now, the rest of the pending work is being completed by Navyug as NDA government, led by the BJP, sanctioned special grant to the contractor. Once the work is completed, the issue of levying the toll to locals will be discussed,” said Shobha.
