Mangaluru, Aug 28: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has decided to fund the complete drainage scheme amounting Rs 6.75 crore in Malavoor village on the foothills of Mangaluru International Airport.
This project will benefit all the villagers from any future flood- type situation.
Presently there is no storm water drainage system in the Malavoor village. Only few natural nallahs which are used presently too are blocked due to construction works. Once the new drainage system comes in place, it will protect the life and properties of the villagers against any natural calamities.
Airport Authority of India has conveyed the executive department of state government to design and build the drainage system as per the norms of national disaster management system.
AAI has taken up this public welfare project in the interest of people staying on the foothills of Mangaluru International Airport as a deposit work. AAI will fund this project whereas the concerned state authorities will execute the work.
The signing of the MOU for this project between AAI and the concerned state authorities is planned in the next week.
