Kasargod, Aug 30: Bus owners in the district on Thursday, August 30, came forward with a helping hand to do their bit to help the victims of flood in Kerala. The money collected through fares and the salaries of bus employees on Thursday will be handed over to Kerala chief minister flood relief fund.
Nearly 450 private buses operate in the district. Passengers traveling in those buses on Thursday were not issued tickets. Instead, bus conductors collected money in buckets. The amount collected will be handed over to the deputy commissioner.
Deputy commissioner Dr Sajith Babu set the campaign in motion at Kasargod bus stand.
Transport officer K Abdul Shukur, DySP P Sukumaran, press club president T A Shafi, association district secretary Satyan Poochakkad, taluk president N M Hasainar, secretary C A Mohammed Kunhi, treasurer Shanker Naik P, P M Sripathi, Hasainar, N M Mohammed, K Balan, Ibrahim, Bashir, Saleem, Rajan and bus owners were present.
