Mangaluru, Aug 31: Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik has asked the Karnataka government to leave the Subramanya Temple to the Subramanya Math. “The temple belongs to the Math and does not come under Muzrai department,” he said.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday, August 31, Muthalik said that there is enough proof to show that the temple was under the Math administration since 1886. “Even the Madras High Court order has stated that this temple comes under the Math. A book by a British officer ‘Journey to Coorg Malabar’ also states the same,” he added.
“The Subramanya temple priest is appointed as per the rules and the customs of the Math. As per record, the temple does not belong to Muzrai department. Some organisations are trying to defame the name of the Math and criticizing the pontiff of the Math. We condemn this act,” he said.
When asked about the arrest of Parashuram Waghmare in relation to the Gauri Lankesh murder case, Muthalik said, "Parashuram Waghmare does not belong to Sri Rama Sene and he is not an activist of our organisation. Several people take pictures with me and it does not mean that every one belongs to Sri Rama Sene. When the Pakistan flag hoisting issue in Sindagi had come to light, it was said that Waghmare was a member of the Sri Ram Sene. However, he is a RSS activist. Hindu leaders are targeted and a conspiracy is hatched,”
