Dubai, Sep 2: Much anticipated Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) UAE semifinal, is ready to entertain everyone. The chairman of the event James Mendonca has announced the panel of luminary judges.

Maestro Event UAE on behalf of Mangalore Konkans will be hosting the semifinal round of GVOM Season 6 on September 28 at Emirates Theatre - Emirates International School Dubai, Jumeirah (Al Thanya). The venue gates will be open by 5 pm.

A brief profile of the judges

‘Prince of Goan Music’ Sidhanath Buyao, Goa

Music composer-singer Sidhanath Buyao, an all-rounder in music, was born on December 27, 1975. After formal education and dabbling in nonmusical ventures, Sidhanath decided to follow his heart and make a career in music. Having inherited the musical talent from his father, ‘Goem Shahir’ Ulhas Buyao, it was quite innate for Sidhanath to take over the reins of 'Buyao Theatres Goem' a music production house founded by his father in 1967. Ever since, he has skillfully carried forward his father's legacy and has established himself as one of the most well-known producers, music composers, singers and stage performers in Goa.

Sidhanath under the banner of Buyao Theaters Goem has produced and composed music for 18 Konkani albums spanning various musical genres. Renowned singers like Shankar Mahadevan, Pt Ajit Kadkade, Swapnil Bandodkar, Vaishali Samant, Audoot Gupte, Bela Shende, Anusha Mani, Jaanvee Prabhu Arora, and Savaniee Ravindrra have lent their voices to many of his memorable compositions in Konkani and Marathi. His songs are widely appreciated by live audiences and are very popular on social media.

Apart from his own productions Sidhanath has composed music for Konkani films like ‘Roddonaka’ produced by Prince Jacob and ‘Jaagor’ produced by former MLA Damu Naik. Sidhanath has also composed music for the albums ‘Shanni Masti’ series by Konkani Bhasha Mandal and has had the privilege of composing music for the award winning Goan tableau at the 2010 Republic Day Parade. He has recently scored music for ‘Baga Beach’, a movie by internationally acclaimed film maker and National Award winner Laxmikant Shetgaokar. A short film ‘Jor’ produced by Hornbill Productions was nominated at 2015 NYIFF. He was also nominated in best sound engineer category for 2015 Radio Mirchi Awards, Maharashtra.

Sidhanath is also a widely popular stage performer and has performed for Konkani community across the globe. He has several notable performances to his name such as at the First Global Konkani Cultural Convention in Mangaluru, International Film Festival of India in 2009, International Jazz Festival in Netherlands, Semana da Cultura Culture festival and Lusofonia Games Closing Ceremony held on in January 2014 at Fatorda Stadium. He has also performed at cultural events in Paris, Delhi and Middle East. After his endearing performance at the 11th North American Goan Convention held at Detroit, Michigan, USA he was invited and performed again for the Goan community in North America at the 13th biennial Goan Convention held in Los Angeles. Most recently he performed at Kavya Hotra 2016, a poetry marathon held at Kala Academy Goa. He has held a numerous shows in Goa.

Sidhanath has bagged numerous awards and has been recognized by several prestigious social, cultural and government organizations. He was honored by the department of Art & Culture with Goa State Yuva Srujan Puraskar in 2013. He is the recipient of the Best Music Composer Award at 5th Global Konkani Music Awards in 2013 in Mangaluru, the prestigious Gulab award as the Best Male Singer in 2009 and the Best Music Composer award of Tiatr Academy of Goa in 2009 and 2010. He was also honored by the Home department, government of Goa for the Goa police theme Song in the year 2008.

Sidhanath owns a state-of-the-art recording studio at Gogol, Fatorda under the banner of Buyao Theatres Goem, and enjoys association with incredibly talented and renowned technicians, musicians, lyricists and singers from Bollywood.

‘Konkans Tansen’ Adrian Gomes, Shirva/Kuwait

Pride of Shirva and a pearl Konkani music, Adrian Gomes was born on September 2, 1965. He started his musical career in 1976 and started to learn accordion from Fr Albuquerque at Fathima Retreat House, Mangaluru. Over the years, he learnt organ, guitar, drums and trumpet. Gomes used to play trumpet and drums for different orchestras in India namely Ashok Charan Orchestra in Mangaluru, Kalakaar & Toofaan Orchestra in Mumbai and Konkani Musical Nites of Claude D’Souza and Eric Ozario (Rang Tarang Geetmala) in Mangaluru.

Adrian played trumpet and drums for various Konkani cassettes in Mangaluru. He also composed music and played keyboards, trumpet, accordion and harmonica in Konkani, Hindi and Bengali recordings and albums in Kuwait. He also released four Konkani instrumental audio cassettes and CDs by name ‘A Tribute to the Konkani Composers’ Vol - 1, 2, 3 and 4 and released an Hindi instrumental CD by name ‘A Tribute to the Bollywood Composers’ Vol - 5.

Being a music director, Adrian conducted several Konkani, Tulu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi shows in Kuwait for several Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu playback singers namely Dr P Susheela, Mano, Anuradha Sriram, Srinivasan, Vasundara Das, Biju Narayan, music director Deva, Harini, Unni Menon, Min Mini K G Markose, Cecily and several others and in Konkani for Wilfy Remimbus, Henry D’Souza, Melwyn Peris, Claude D’Souza and Wilson Olivera in Kuwait, He is also performed in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain and Qatar.

He has been bestowed with many awards for his contribution in popularizing Konkani music, namely ‘Sangeeth Vazanthran Shilpi’ by Uswas – Dubai in 2007 and ‘Konkan Tansen’ by Kuwait Konkans in 2008.

Adrian was a judge for many singing competitions in Konkani and Malayalam, in Kuwait, UAE and Bahrain.

‘Melody Queen’ Anitha D'Souza, Bela

Melody Queen Anitha D'Souza is a born singer with a God-gifted euphonious voice. She started singing from an early age of five. She was bestowed with the honor 'Kala Tilaka' by the Kerala government at the age of nine. She secured the first place in the state-level light music competition in Kerala when she was in the 10th standard. After that there was no turning back. She came to Mangaluru and completed her diploma and degree in dance and music and performed in a number of musical shows.

She was honoured with the title 'Tulunada Gaana Kogile' at the valedictory ceremony of '4 the Super Singers' a karaoke music competition at Town Hall on May 3, 2011. She was also conferred with the 'Vishwa Gadinada Rani Kogile' title in November 2011.

Anitha has sung for Konkani movie 'Padri'. She has also sung with almost all the popular and renowned Konkani singers like Konkan Kogul Wilfy Remimbus, Yodelling King Melwyn Peris, Maand Sobann's Eric Ozario, Claude D'Souza, Henry D'Souza and others. Anitha sings in 11 languages, and has performed in more than 2,000 shows in India and Gulf. She has sung in more than 500 musical albums and two movies. Anitha was bestowed with Global Konkani best female singer and her album ‘Yaad’ titled as the best album of the year.

Apart from being a talented singer, Anitha is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She also conducts music classes for students of all ages and gives opportunities to deserving students to perform in her shows.

Floyd Kiran Moras: Popular Poet, writer, speaker Floyd Kiran has been a popular face in UAE. He has a legacy of handling some of the high profile events in UAE.

Besides the singing competition, judges themselves will perform their favorite songs.
The event will also host dance from Classical Rhythms and Ocean Kids from UAE. Music for the event will be provided by Band Open High and sound and lighting by Broadway.



All in all, GVOM-6 semifinal in Dubai will be a total entertainment package.
