Bantwal, Sep 2: Police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd when they arrested the accused in the assault case of a salon owner on money matters that took place in Kalladka on the night of August 31.
Satish, a native of Tamil Nadu, who was running a salon in Kalladka had given money to rowdy sheeter Khalil on loan. When repeated requests of Satish to return the money were not heeded by Khalil, he had registered a complaint in the Bantwal city police station. Khalil was exiled to Hassan earlier.
A complaint was registered with the police accusing that Khalil had assaulted Satish on the night of Friday, August 31 citing the complaint filed by Satish as the reason behind the crime. In his complaint, Satish accused Khalil of brandishing a knife at him by forcefully entering the salon and demanding hafta and smashing his mobile phone.
A case of attempt to murder is registered against the accused. An additional police force is deployed in Kalladka after this incident.
Bantwal city police station officer Chandrashekar has registered the case and is conducting the inquiry.
