Mangaluru, Sep 3: Public got furious on a young girl, who was intoxicated and drove her two-wheeler in a zigzag and dangerous manner on the M G Road in the city on the night of Saturday, September 1.
The said girl drove her two-wheeler in a dangerous manner crisscrossing the road and overtaking a number of vehicles in the process in a precarious way. An auto rickshaw driver who saw the crazy act of this girl overtook her two-wheeler and instructed her to stop in between PVS and Navbharath area. The girl was taken to task by the public once she stopped the vehicle.
The girl who came to know the seriousness of the situation got frightened by the questioning by the public. When the locals tried to call the police she tendered an apology and requested them not to complain to the police. She also opened her bag and showed bundles of currency notes and asked the public as to how much money they want? This infuriated the public further.
Though the locals called the police, they did not turn up for a long time. By the time, the police arrived, the girl in question escaped with her two-wheeler.
Of late, bike-wheeling, joy rides and yelling of groups of young boys and girls has increased on the city roads during weekends. In some roads, these groups behave as if the road belongs to them. This kind of careless behaviour creates a nuisance to the public and may result in accidents also.
