Mangaluru, Sep 3: BJP dominated in the ULB elections in the coastal belt winning most of the seats in Udupi, Kundapur, Saligrama and Puttur. In Udupi, BJP won 31 seats while 4 seats were won by the Congress.
Despite the district administration had restricting the parties from holding victory rallies, BJP went on to celebrate victory where scores of its supporters gathered near the counting center, chanting slogans in support of their leaders who defeated the Congress candidates.
On the other hand, only four seats were won by Congress. A video has been going viral on social media in which the BJP supporters are seen chanting slogans in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The candidates are seen celebrating when there was not a single Congress supporter seen to celebrate the victory of their Congress candidates.
Large number of people had gathered near T M Pai English Medium School in Udupi from 8 am waiting for the results. Since the result was not in favour of Congress, the party supporters left the premises.
One of the victorious Congress candidate with no supporters behind to celebrate her victory had to leave the premises in disappointment. The candidate was seen closing her ears with both hands to avoid further embarrassment as BJP supporters started to chant slogans loudly in favour of Modi.
