Udupi, Sep 3: Krishna Leelotsava popularly known as ‘Vittal Pindi’ was celebrated with much devotion and holiness here in Krishna Math, Udupi on Monday, September 3.
A large number of devotees took part in the celebrations from different parts of Karnataka and abroad. The celebrations marked breaking of mud pots filled with saffron and milk. Men dressed as shepherds broke the pots which were tied in different places in Car Street. This was done to remember the childhood activities of Lord Krishna.
The clay idol of Lord Krishna was taken in a procession around Car Street. It was immersed in Madhwa Sarovara. The golden chariot gave a beautiful look to the clay idol. Statues of Chandrmaulishwara and Lord Anantheshwara were also taken in procession along with Lord Krishna.
Huli Vesha troupes with their amazing dancing skills entertained the audience. Special Hulivesha competitions were also held. The artists danced for the beats and entertained the viewers. Women tiger dance troupe attracted lot of attention and appreciation.
Many tiger dance troupes performed for a social cause. Some individuals also entertained the audience with their costumes based on Hollywood characters. Ocean of devotees came to Car Street to witness this traditional ritual.
Paryaya Shri Palimar Math seer Shri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji and other seers took part in the celebrations.
