Mangaluru: NRI Centre proposed for Gulf employment deprived persons - Khader

Mangaluru, Sep 4: State housing minister, U T Khader, said that a NRI centre would be opened in the office of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district here to pool information about people from Dakshina Kannada district who have either lost or left their jobs because of the enactment of new laws in foreign countries.

"A proposal to this end will be soon submitted to the deputy commissioner. This centre will record all the details of such people. This will enable those who have lost their jobs and the district administration to take decisions in the future. An effort will be made to offer them support in future," he explained, at a press conference he addressed on Monday September 3.

On this occasion, he explained about various road works being undertaken by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board at Kudipu-Ira region, Someshwara temple to Saraswathi colony, Ullal Mogaveerapatna beach to St Sebastian Church etc. He also said that a new school building would be built at Ombattukere at a cost of Rs 2.8 crore so that the building can be used in case of natural calamities.

    Jobs are going to be disappearing worldwide due to advance technology. There is a proposal of guaranteed basic income to the families from the government. Chicago is one of the cities has started giving $500 per month as basic income to 1000 families irrespective of their financial status as a pilot program. There is research is going on about the impact on economy and society, if the families do not have enough income.

    Please welcome any welfare programs coming from the government. This will keep the economy growing and make the society peaceful. Don't count on degrees and look for the jobs but try to create jobs with your education.

    I understand your grievances.
    Today, morning news on NDTV, I heard that:-
    "PhD holders among 23 lakh applicants for peon jobs in UP ... responded to an advertisement seeking applications for 368 posts of peons in the ..."
    My nephew studied PhD (microbiology) in UK and back in Mangalore and since one year seeking employment domestically or abroad but as of date no green sign. In life we have goal and ambition and times for present generation is going tough and tougher.
    I feel too much for such people. Some times luck also plays some role (I believe)

    Those who are worked in gulf for atleast 4-6years will earn something for their decent future and survival. what about ourself who came out from colleges with master degrees by spending lots of money with a hope of government will provide employment oppotunity??? No cells to register oir names and future planns?? "SELL PAKODAAS UNDER MAKE IN INDIA BRAND"??..

    Dear Unemployed, in gulf country all are not manger, there are also drivers, house maids,cleaners and many more people who earns less than 15k INR per month and those 15k also wont get every month, and they pay to the agent between 80k to 1 lac do you know that?please dont say that in 4to 6 years they made money,why dont you go gulf and see their living standards.

    You mean to say educated peoples roaming on the roads withouht having a job is better than earning 15k ??.
    Survival need not mean to be having a duplex house, car & party times on beach.

    Well said Mr Wilson... come to gulf get experience heat of gulf as well... people here are slogging in this heat...our degrees also wont be counted when u come gulf....and 5 - 6 years are nothing enough to save...going abroad is not force little better we can save from home country being in home country we spend on jolly life.... dont think all people in gulf earn more and enjoy no ways.... only people in big positions in gulf country are lucky ones free flat, big salary, car,all allowances.. lower jobs people slog here... unless knowing truth u shouldnt comment....

    Dear Unemployed MBA, do not blame government for everything. Do not depend on government that they will feed you and provide employment opportunity, however, selling pakoda or vegetable will not tarnish one's dignity as far as it is a legal business. I believe if a person willing to work/struggle in life there is lot of opportunity anywhere in the world.

    I lived in gulf for 35 years and I can say we can divide Indian residents there into 3 categories.20% people yes donot know where to invest their earnings that much is their salary e.g say 5 lacs rupees a month. Another 30-40% struggle, swallow dignity and make a decent living.remaining people are miserable. Once they go there they cannot comeback due to loan and expectation from families. I knew some bachelors get up at 3 am to stand in a queue to use toilet. Board bus at 5 am. If field work weather conditions are not suitable.if sick to avail sick leave very hard.

    Dear MR. Unemployed , hope you will get a job in gulf soon, so that you will understand how is the working condition in gulf countries are. its not easy out hear. people working out side must deal with lots of things high temperature in summer, cold in winter. in a small room 7 to 8 people stay. do you think people working in gulf stay in AC for 24/7 ,strict roles etc, please come to gulf.

    regarding jobs in India yes shortage of jobs are there but, you cant say that there are no jobs in India. you cant get a job in india or any part of the world in easy. you need to show ur talent in interview ,dont forget there is one more person sitting in" q" for the same job position u applied, he may show his skills and knowledge better than you. its not that you go to an MNC and say i need a job for this position they will give you.

    if ur unemployed right now, my advice to you is work for any job for time being and keep finding for the job which you are looking for. there are many such people and today they are well settled and working their dream job. i know some of them and that is called smart and hard work.
