Mangaluru: Graduation Day held at St Aloysius BEd College

Mangaluru, Sep 4: The 10th Graduation Day of St Aloysius BEd College, was held on September 1 for the passed out graduate teachers of 2015-17 batch at the college auditorium. The function commenced with an academic procession walking into the auditorium.

Vice chancellor Dr Kishor Kumar, Mangalore University, was the chief guest. In his speech he said that St Aloysius College Institutions have unique features in the spectrum of education. He expressed deep sense of admiration towards the inputs that the BEd College and its management have put in order to create able and dynamic teachers needed for the society. He concluded his speech by stressing on excellencel in any task big or small.small or big task. He also exhorted the student teachers not to be satisfied with mediocrity but to view teaching as a noble calling.



Fr Dionysius Vaz, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions delivered the presidential address. He said, “Graduation Day is a commencement day, beginning of new phase of life. Today the responsibility of a teacher is to train the children who are ready to invent new things. Teachers’ job is not merely giving information, but to transform the whole being of the child.” He also invited the graduate teachers to become the weapon to bring about a change in society by making it a better place.

Fr Eric Mathias, director of the college, invited the budding teachers to be persons of listening and compassion to the pain of others. He also hoped that the graduate teachers who have imbibed values of Jesuit education to transmit the same in their workplace.

After the awarding of marks cards to the graduate teachers the Rector administered an oath of honesty in the discharge of teacher duties and service to the cause of Education. The dignitaries on the dais felicitated the vice-chancellor with flowers, fruits and a memento.

Nelson and group invoked God’s blessings through a prayer song. Principal Dr Farita Viegas welcomed the gathering. Clifford Pinto rendered the valedictorian address. Amith SJ rendered the vote of thanks. The graduation day dissolved with a showcase of cultural entertainment and fellowship meal to all.
