Puttur: St Philomena PU College hosts district level inter school competition 'Pratibha'

Puttur, Sep 7: Pratibha Day, a one day district level inter school competition for high school students was organized on Septmber 7 at St Philomena PU College at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries.

Balarama Acharya MD, G L Acharya Jewellers Mangaluru, here the chief guest said that students should not only give importance to scoring good marks, but they have to even participate in various other competitions which will definitely result in shaping their personality. He encouraged students to bring out creativity and exhibit their talent. He also boosted the students by saying that participation is very important.



The guest of honour Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director and chairperson of PG studies, St Philomena College said that everyone has a hidden talent in them. They should recognize it and make proper use of it. He advised students to develop simplicity which is the key for success.

The president, Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent St Philomena Institutions said, “Time and Tide wait for none. Time is very precious." He advised the students not to be distracted by unwanted things. He encouraged them to participate in both curricular and co-curricular activities.

Sinchana Gowda (II SEBA) was felicitated for her great achievement in the field of surfing. She had secured a gold medal in national level surfing competition held at Kovalam in Chennai.

PTA president, Durgaprasad Rai and alumni president, Jayaraj Bhandary were present on the occasion. Hostel wardens Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, Fr Sunil Sr Flora Machado, Oswald Rodrigues, headmaster of St Philomena High School were present on the occasion.

About 27 high school students participated in various competitions.

Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of St Philomena PU College welcomed the gathering.

Ashwini K , dept of Chemistry, co-ordinator of Pratibha proposed the vote of thanks. Prashanth Bhat P dept of Chemistry compered the programme.
