Mangaluru, Sep 8: Ullal police have arrested two suspected robbers from near Kotekar health center, NH 66, Ullal here. At that time, the accused were in possession of deadly weapons and chilli powder, which gave a definite clue that they were conspiring to intercept passing vehicles on NH 66 and rob the occupants. The gang consisted of five suspects. The remaining three fled during the operation.
The arrested suspects are Chembugudde residents, Shiham(20) and Mohammed Afridi (22). Salman Tarikh, Habib alias Abbi and Mutaliq managed to flee.
The arrests were made by police on patrol duty. Iron rod, nylon ropes, knives, chilli powder and two mobile phones were confiscated from their possession. The suspects had reportedly planned to intercept lorry drivers and other vehicle drivers and rob them. They were produced in court after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Ullal police station inspector Gopikrishna duly supported by sub inspector Guruvappa Kanthi, Vinayaka Toragal, staff Prashanth and Ranjith.
