Mangaluru Sep 8: BJP MLAs were displeased over police for not allowing their vehicles inside the premises of Zilla Panchayat where chief minister (CM) H D Kumaraswamy presided over the district review meeting on Friday September 7.
Vehicles of MLAs and MPs including Rajesh Naik, Nalin Kumar Kateel, and Angara were stopped outside the gate and police stopped them from taking their vehicle inside the premise. The vehicles of executive engineers of Zilla Panchayat, Congress and JD(S) supporters and other officials were seen parked inside the premises of the zilla panchayat.
Soon after the press conference of CM, MLAs Rajesh Naik and Vedavyas Kamath complained to Kumaraswamy regarding the issue. Kumaraswamy assured that he will look into this matter.
Later speaking to the media, MLA Sanjeev Matandoor said,”We MLAs came here to attend the review meeting with chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. While reaching near the gate of Zilla Panchayat, MLA Angara was stopped and vehicle was not allowed inside the premises. We were even asked to park the vehicles far away from the area. In spite of requests, our vehicles were not allowed inside. This is an insult to the MLAs. We have brought this to the notice of CM. He assured that this will not be repeated in the future. We MLAs demand that strict disciplinary action should be taken against the concerned police officers and they should be suspended immediately,”
MLA Vedavyas Kamath said,”Even after the meeting was over, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s vehicle was not allowed to pick him from the place. He walked to the vehicle which was parked far away from the meeting hall. We noticed that vehicles of other officials, Congress and JD(S) supporters were parked inside. This is discrimination,”
