Mangaluru: ‘I am bound to take action in Yettinahole project violations’ – CM

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Sep 8: “I am bound to take action within legal parameters if any violations have happened in the implementation of Yettinahole project,” said chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Answering questions by reporters regarding promises made by him during election campaign, he said that there is no question of compromise in them. “I need some time to look into them. It is necessary to concentrate on the problems being faced by the people at present,” he said.

Speaking about implementation of Kasturirangan report concerning Western Ghats, he said that the disasters in Western Ghats have created anxiety among people. “The reasons for them are being analysed. Action will be taken on the basis of scientific suggestions and report of experts in Hyderabad,” he said.

There were heated arguments between MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and member of Vidhana Parishat Bhoje Gowda during progress review meeting regarding rain water destruction. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel urged for suitable compensation to victims concerning Koleroga after holding impartial enquiry free from politics. There were arguments between the two at that juncture. However, it is said that the chief minister intervened and diluted the situation.

Yettinahole is a high priority project, probably of national importance. We are led to believe it's for Kolar, and other water-scarce regions, but it is going to be diverted to Bangalore. It's a do-or-die situation for Bangalore, which is a dying city, and within 3-5 years it needs additional water sources. In case it doesn't, investments will vanish, which would mean Karnataka would lose its main source of income.
It's beyond any CM or any party to stop this project, and would almost be political suicide if they do try to stop it.

For a fraction of the cost of this project don't you feel they could have dug lakes around blr and revive the ground water level of the city or used the water stored in these lakes to supply water to the city? It's not like Bangalore is a desert where it doesn't rain. Don't mess with nature.

What action are you to going to take now? Can you stop cutting trees and diversion of Nethravathi River? Half of the forests have been destroyed. No action will be fruitful until and unless felling trees and diversion of river is stopped.

Why are you so unjust? Why did you leave out Siddhu and Moily who was instrumental in the Yettinahole project? Moily has made tall promises in his constituency that he will bring them water from Nethravathi. These two have also shown keen interest in the multi-crore project.

Yettinahole is not only BJP project. It's a joint venture of Moily and DVS. Both have to be kicked out.
