Sullia, Sep 9: The decomposed body of a senior citizen was found at his own home at Kalchare in Panja - Pambattady village in the taluk on Saturday September 8 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Subramanya Bhat (60) from Kalchare. It is gathered that he was living alone. The fact that he had died came to the notice of the neighbours after a postman who visited the house to drop a letter, informed the neighbours about foul smell emanating from inside the house. As Bhat had not been seen since some days, the neighbours called the police. Police personnel of Subramanya station, who visited the spot came to know that Bhat was no more.

It is suspected that this death might have occurred about ten days back. No one is certain whether it was murder or suicide. Bhat had severed his connections with wife and children, and was living on his own, the locals said. He also was involved with money lending business, it is learnt.

Some suspect that people who had financial dispute with him might have misused his loneliness and killed him. People hope that police investigation will bring out the truth.

District superintendent of police, Dr Ravikanthe Gowda, Puttur deputy superintendent of police, Srinivas, local circle inspector, Sathish Kumar, station house officer, Gopal, etc visited the spot and conducted scrutiny. Finger print experts and sniffer dogs too surveyed the area.

The mortal remains were dispatched to Mangaluru for post-mortem examination.

Dogs provide a great deal of protection at a low cost. Dogs keep boredom and depression away as well.
