Bantwal, Sep 11: Miscreants caused damage to the car of Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ullipadiguthu at the uphill road near Narahariparvata of Panemangaluru on Monday, September 10 by throwing a large stone. The MLA, fortunately, escaped unhurt.
BJP activists who came to know about this incident rushed to the police station and protested that they will not go from the police station until and unless the culprits of this act are arrested.
"Did the police officers of Bantwal police station limits are held hostage by any political party? The procession which was being taken on account of the Bharath Bandh is not stopped. Why the police protection, which was supposed to be given to a sitting MLA, is provided to a former minister?" the activists of BJP questioned. They also said that though the innocent public is attacked by the Congress activists at places like Baddakatte, Mani, Maripalla, and Kaikamba, police have not taken any action.
The activists took back their protest after the ASP Hrishikesh Sonawane and Bantwal circle inspector T D Nagaraj assured to arrest the accused by Tuesday, September 11.
BJP leaders A Govind Prabhu, B Devdas Shetty, Ramdas Bantwal, Sulochana Bhat, Tungappa Bangera and Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliyar were present at the police station.
