St Aloysius School celebrates Teachers’ day and Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary

Mangaluru, Sep 11: St Aloysius higher primary school Kodialbail celebrated ‘Teachers’ Day’ and ‘Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary’ on September 7 at the school auditorium.

The programme began with strewing of the flowers to Mother Mary in front of the college grotto followed by the solemn mass at the college chapel.

Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath S J, the main celebrant, appreciated the children for their active participation. “I love to be a part of the celebration with children which makes me feel young.” In his homily he said, “May the feast of the new corn (Monthi Festh) bring all the family members together. May it strengthen the bondage of each family.” He wished all the teachers present and appreciated for opting to become a teacher since teaching is the noblest profession among all the others.

St Aloysius ITI and St Aloysius B.Ed college students and teaching faculty were present for the holy mass.

Teachers Day celebration began with the prayer song. It was a combined venture of the students and parents (PTA Executive members). Students along with the parents put up a beautiful show like songs, dance, skit etc.

Rector in his presidential address recalled his childhood days and his primary teachers. He said that teachers have taught him to have concern for the poor and service minded towards the down trodden in the society.

Fr Eric Mathias SJ, the correspondent of the school, said that the school has excellent band of teachers. He appreciated the teachers for the dedication in their work.

He particularly thanked and congratulated the vice president of the PTA Rekha Fernandes and the executive members for their tireless efforts in putting up the beautiful show. The teachers were then felicitated by the rector and the correspondent.

The whole programme was conducted by the students of class VI. Sugarcane was distributed to each student to mark the celebration of Monthi Festh. Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath SJ sponsored sugarcane that enhanced the joy of the day.
