Mangaluru Sep 11: District Congress Committee held a protest rally from Jyothi Circle to DC office in city on Tuesday, September 11, against the Rafale scam.

Addressing the protestors former MLA J R Lobo said, "In the year 2012 UPA government had signed a deal with France to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft for Rs 550 crore each. After Narendra Modi came to power, the deal was withdrawn and was extended to Rs 1600 crore each for the 36 fighter aircraft, which means this is scam of crores of rupees,"

"As per the UPA deal, the jets were to be made in India by HAL. Since this deal was never finalized and subsequently cancelled by the NDA government and the same was given to Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence. Rafale is one of the biggest scams and we will continue to fight against it."

"Modi had promised to credit Rs 15 lac to the account of every Indian and also promised for Ache Din. But he has failed to deliver his promises. Ache Din have not yet arrived due to the hike in fuel prices and commodities, leaving the people greatly troubled," Lobo added.

Former minister Ramanath Rai said, "I congratulate each and everyone for supporting the bandh called on account of fuel hike. BJP has claimed that Congress implemented the bandh using force. But there is no proof for that. In social media, a video was circulated where it is shown that I was asking people to close the shops. But in reality, I have not abused or cursed anyone and I had just requested people,"

"BJP MLA's car was stoned at Bolangadi. There are no congress representatives in that region. We did not have any information about MLA's programme schedule. Only BJP leaders had information about MLA’s programme schedule. BJP is known to mislead people by fake allegations," Rai added.

"On Rafale scam, UPA government had negotiated Rs 550 crore each for 36 fighter aircraft, but NDA signed a deal of Rs 1600 crore for each of the aircraft. This is a huge scam which needs to be investigated and truth has to be revealed," said Rai.

Former MLA Mohideen Bava, district Congress president Harish Kumar, Former mayor Kavitha Sanil, Mayor Bhaskar Moily, deputy mayor Mohammed and others were present.

    Joseph, Karkala, please don't try to mislead people by talking as if you know everything!.

    What is meant by base model!?. Is it just engine and frame like our earlier Maruti 800 models!?. From where did you get the information!? Nothing is in public domain!.

    Government nor Dassault have not divulged any information regarding technical capabilities!!!. Even price is not divulged citing secrecy clauses!. The price issue that is happening now is because of Dassault in its annual report has said that they have done a sales of fighters to India for 7.5 billion euros!.

    Earlier when UPA was there, it was 12 billion dollars for 126 aircraft!. Based on this information the per aircraft price is arrived at and compared between two deals. So don't say base model, top model etc when no such information is available!

    All you guys over here are idiots. For 560 crores you will get a base level jet. That means no upgardes. Its like getting a base model car with no upgrades. DASSULT is the company who makes these jets. They dont listen to any goverment. They are their own boss. They decide who will the give the tender wether it be Reliance or HAL. If anybody needs to clear their doubts read the actual deal. Congress never made a deal with Dassult. The price which is quoted was in 2008 for 560 crore. Years have passed by fuel and food rates have increased dont you think the price of the jet will increase. Guys simple economic. Oh wait you dont know economics.
    DASSULT IS A GOVERNMENT ON ITS OWN. Theybhave ties to Reliance, HAL, Wipro Godrej and more. So Modi cant decide who he will give to. Its DASSULT. So the 1600 crore on the jet is off the shelf completely upgraded to Indian Airforce specification.

    @ Blind Bhakt Guru - HAL has been manufacturing expertise and technology. It has been licensed to assemble and build Jaguars, MiG's, Sukhoi's since after Independence. While on the other hand, Anil Ambani is a failed businessman who could not even run a Telecom company successfully nor could he manufacture a cycle.

    If you read it carefully, the deal was not entered by the Congress Government. A deal is finalised only whe both the parties to the deal agree on it. So the question of cancelling the deal never arose. The Cogress should provide the Money trail. however that has not happenned at all.
