Bengaluru, Sep 11: While rumour mills are abuzz that Belagavi’s Jarkiholi brothers are being wooed by the BJP, senior Congress leader and former minister Satish Jarkiholi has rubbished reports.

However, the brothers who are upset with the party with certain issues, have hinted that anything can happen in the state politics in the next fortnight.

“While we have urged the party leaders to resolve certain issues related to Belagavi, we hope the high command takes them up seriously,” Satish told a news channel on Tuesday, September 11.

It is said that Satish not given the state Congress president’s post and Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar interfering in Belagavi politics has miffed the brothers, who have earlier told they were contemplating on quitting Congress after former CM Siddaramaiah returns from foreign tour.

While dismissing rumours of the coalition government being under threat, Satish said that his brother and Municipalities Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi has support of 12 party MLAs. “Many MLAs are in touch with Ramesh. They are together for the past few weeks,” he said but denied that BJP has approached them.

While questioned if the problems are because of Shivakumar, Satish evaded directly answering the query but highlighted that problems prevail in Belagavi Congress ever since the coalition government was formed. Problems are with respect to the transfer of certain officials and nominations to some government-controlled agencies, he said.

Meanwhile, Ramesh who had a closed-door meeting with KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said there is no threat to the government and added that all issues have been resolved. He also said that he was not aware of Satish’s statements.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy who was questioned by the reporters in Mandya regarding the Jarkiholi brother’s statements, maintained that the coalition government is stable and cannot be destroyed easily by the BJP.

“Who told you that Congress and JD(S) MLAs will resign? Shall I make five BJP MLAs to resign? I don’t know how the media gets such false news. How does the media assume that Congress and JD(S) MLAs will join the BJP?” the CM lashed out.
