Bengaluru, Sep 12: An employee of a cyber cafe here murdered a software engineer on silly pretext. The accused, identified as Karthik, has been arrested by the personnel of Girinagar station in the city.
The man who was killed in this incident was Guruprashanth (31), residing behind Muneshwara temple, Girinagar here.
Guruprashanth lived with wife, Mamata, father, Hanumantharayappa, and mother, Siddagangamma, in Girinagar. He was employed with Wipro Ltd, Bellandur here. At 8.30 pm on September 6, he had visited a cyber cafe near his home to take a print out of his resume. He asked Karthik, who was in cyber cafe, to take out colour print out of his resume found in his e-mail.
Kartik, instead of taking colour print out, got black and white print out and demanded ten rupees. Guruprashanth questioned him about same rate being charged for black and white and colour prints at which Karthik used abusive words, it is said. When the techie held Karthik's collar, he picked up a screw driver nearby and forcibly inserted it inside from near Guruprashanth’s left ear.
The techie collapsed on the spot, lost consciousness and bled profusely. The people immediately admitted him into Radhakrishna Hospital nearby. The doctors found that he had slipped into coma as the screw driver had pierced his brain. At the doctor’s advice, he was taken to BGS Hospital, but he breathed his last on Tuesday September 11.
On Tuesday itself, the techie's wife gave birth to a baby boy. On the basis of complaint made by Siddaraju, relative of Guruprashanth, the Girinagar police registered murder case on Tuesday and arrested the accused.
