Mangaluru, Sep 14: It looks like all the roads in Mangaluru city will lead to Rosario Cathedral tomorrow, September 15, for the ordination of Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, newly appointed Bishop of Mangaluru diocese.
Daijiworld will telecast the event through live streaming of the historic event.
The telecast will begin at 9.30 am sharp and will end at 1.30 pm. The event includes the Holy Eucharist, ordination of Bishop and felicitation.
Thousands of devotees, clergyman, nuns and people from all religions are expected to attend the ceremony.
Msgr Javier D Fernandez G Papal Nuncio to India will present and read the Mandate from the Holy See in Latin before the consecration ceremony.
Dr Peter Machado, Arch Bishop, Bengaluru, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop, Udupi Diocese and Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza, Apostolic Administrator and hitherto Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese will consecrate the new Bishop.
District in-charge minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar, MLA Vedavyas Kamath are also expected to take part in the event with other political leaders.
Organisers with the help of police and other departments have made proper arrangements for the event.
Parking arrangement
Parking arrangements have been made ahead of Episcopal ordination as follows:
Those buses coming from the district for bishop's ordination should drop the passengers at RTO office, proceed via State Bank and park the buses either in Milagres Church, Milagres College or St Aloysius College.
Mini buses and tempo travellers should drop the passengers near Corporation Bank Head Office and park the vehicles at Yemmekere Ground.
Four-wheelers should drop the passengers at Corporation Bank, Head Office, proceed via St Ann's School and park vehicles at Nehru Maidan, Football Ground, and Town Hall or Milagres Jubilee Hall Basement.
Two wheeler riders should park their vehicles at St Anne's Gate 1, 4 or 5. Guests coming for hall programme on 11.30 am have arrangements for parking at St Anne’s Gate 2 and 3.
Volunteer's committee convener Sushil Noronha has requested all the devotees arriving for the programme to co-operate with police traffic department and volunteers.
