Kundapur, Sep 15: A gang of six persons reportedly entered a shop at Thekkatte in the taluk, assaulted the shopkeeper, damaged CCTV Camera and robbed gold and cash before fleeing.
The incident happened on Thursday September 13 evening. The shopkeeper, who was roughed up and robbed, has been identified as Krishnamurthy Kottary, a resident of Kattemane in Ulthoor village near Thekkatte, who operates his shop, S M Enterprises, in Thekkatte.
Krishnamurthy has claimed that the accused, Sudeep Shetty, Butler Santhosh alias Santhu, Harish, Shashi, Girish and Sandesh entered the shop at about 7.30 pm on Thursday and attacked him. They succeeded in taking away a piece of the gold chain he was wearing around his neck, as the chain snapped when the robbers yanked it. They even snatched away cash from the cash drawer of the shop, it is said.
Krishnamurthy Kottary, who was seriously injured in this incident, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Koteshwar.
A police case has been registered in Kundapur police station relating to this incident and the police have taken up probe.
