Bantwal: Gang tries to kill youth - leaves him seriously injured

Bantwal, Sep 15: A gang launched murderous assault on a youth with swords and iron rods at Kelaginapete, Vittal Kanyana. Past enmity is said to be the reason for this murder attempt, which happened on Friday September 14, sources said.

The youth who suffered serious injuries in this incident, has been identified as Nawaf (23), son of Hamid from Mittanadka in Karopadi village.

Nawaf was working in Kerala till sometime back, before returning to his hometown for good. He had visited Kanyana downtown to collect study certificate from Kanyana School. He was reportedly standing by the roadside in his two-wheeler at Kanyana Kelaginapete, when a gang seated in car which came from the direction of Kerala, launched assault on him. When Nawaf tried to run away, the gang members chased and attacked him. As locals began to gather at the spot, the accused escaped from the area, the complaint filed in police station stated.

The injured Nawaf stands admitted into Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru. The victim named the culprits as Iqbal from Kanyana, Haris from Kerala, against whom a warrant is pending, and two other people from Kerala.

Vittal police visited the spot, collected information and began investigation.
