Mangaluru, Sep 15: A Taluk panchayat official, on Saturday, September 15, admitted in front of MLA that he indeed demanded bribe from some panchayat development officers (PDO).
Sadananda, a taluk panchayat executive official, is the accused.
As per details available, Sadananda demanded bribe from PDOs of the taluk to clear some files. He told them that he cannot work if he is not paid money. The PDOs thought that Sadananda crossed the limits and, they gheraoed the taluk office. They asked him to stop demanding money from them.
Bharat Shetty, MLA Mangaluru North, heard about the incident and visited taluk panchayat office. He took Sadananda to task and demanded proper explanation. Sadananda said that he was compelled to accept bribe as he has to pay to the finance department to get the work done. He said that finance department demands money to release the budget funds.
