Bengaluru, Sep 17: With the alleged attempt by opposition BJP to topple the HD Kumaraswamy-led JD(S)-Congress coalition government getting murkier, especially after several leaders from the ruling coalition accusing the saffron party of resorting to its ill-famous Operation Kamala Part 3, AICC General Secretary and State Congress in-charge K C Venugopal on Sunday alleged that BJP was using black money to topple the government.
Speaking to reporters after meetings with Congress leaders, Venugopal alleged that the BJP was using black money for luring the legislators of the Congress. The Congress MLAs would not fall prey to the black money of the BJP.
The AICC general secretary held a series of meetings with KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, Working presidentEshwar Khandre and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is also the chairman of the Congress-JD(S) coordination combine, on Sunday.
Venugopal told reporters that the party would intervene and settle the issue in case of any differences among the Jarkiholi brothers in Belagavi.
"It is a district issue and state congress leaders will settle it,’’ he said making it clear that the party was united to defeat BJP’s designs.
Venugopal assured that the State government’s functioning would not be hampered due to such issues.
“The issue is related to the district and it won’t affect the government at all,” he said.
Venugopal claimed that false reports were being circulated by the BJP as part of a “game”.
He said, "It is the game of the BJP. They are believing in central agencies and money. They think that with their black money they can topple this government, but it is not going to happen. This government is very intact.’’
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday had claimed that “kingpins” involved in gambling and illegal lottery business were supplying money to BJP leaders for toppling his by luring the legislators of ruling parties.
KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao said that a section of the BJP leaders, including B S Yeddyurappa have been wooing Independent councillors to grab power in the Bruhat Bengaluru MahanagaraPalike (BBMP).
