Bangalore, Oct 30: Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Nothing splendid has been achieved except by those who dared to believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance.”
Inspired by these words, Kathiravan M. Pethi (also known as Kadri), founder of Feel Foundation, will teach his 37 students non-stop for 78 hours in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record that will start on Friday. He will be lecturing the students on “Gandhi’s vision and mission in life.” He hopes to set a new record called “longest lesson learned”.
The current record is held by Sanjay Kumar Sinha who taught 59 pupils English grammar for 73 hours and 37 minutes at the Bay City Club, Bandra in Mumbai, in October 2005.
“The objectives of breaking the Guinness record are to create awareness about the pitiable state of students in rural and semi rural areas, to collect funds from corporates and the public to educate, train and sponsor poor students and teachers and also help the younger generation learn about Gandhian values,” Mr. Kadri said.
He said that during the record attempt, he would take a five-minute break every hour. “I may accumulate the breaks. I cannot get to sleep; however, I can meditate for some time. I am not supposed to remain silent for more than 30 seconds. It is a mind over body matter. Every hour, the students will be asked questions to test their understanding,” he said.
