Mangaluru Sep 26: Two persons including a woman were arrested for blackmailing, abducting and robbing a businessman on Tuesday, September 25.
The arrested are identified as Rakesh (32), resident of Kutthar and Srilatha, a representative of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike.
As per the reports, Shashi, a businessman aged 76 from Kerala, living in the city for past 35 years, had an illicit relationship with a woman. He had filmed videos with the woman and saved it on a CD.
One CD was robbed and given to the woman. Taking advantage, the woman started blackmailing Sashi with the video clip.
On September 23, they asked Shashi to meet them at Karavali Utsava ground. Here, they asked to him to come near a car where Sujith, Abhijith and Abhilash abducted the businessman.
Later, he was taken to secluded place at Surathkal and was asked to pay Rs 5 lac. They threatened to upload the video on social media if he failed to pay them. When Sashi refused to pay the money, they robbed his chain, ring, wrist watch and Rs 18,000 cash.
While two persons have been arrested in this case, search is on to apprehend the other accused. The case was registered at Barke police station and the accused have been sent to judicial custody.
