Kuwait, Sept 28 : In a professionally organized Kuwait segment of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6, Shelton Pinto from Bondel, Mangalore and Gloria D’Souza from Angelore, Mangalore have entered into the finals in female and male category respectively. The winners will contest for coveted title of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6 to be held in Kuwait on November 9 this year.
After the stupendous success of five seasons Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) Season-6 semi-final was organized by Kuwait’s No#1 Mangalorean Association Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) on Friday 28th September 2018 at the Sabah Al-Salem Theater, Khaldiya from 3:00 pm onwards. GVOM is considered to be the most popular and biggest Konkani reality show in the Middle East.
As the clock struck 3:30 pm program started with prayer song by GVOM3 winner Orson D'Souza followed by GVOM theme song. Audience was excited to see the glittering stage when curtain opened with live music from “Muzik Collective” led by Kiran Gonsalves. After formal introduction and welcome by MC Deepak Andrade, President Stevan Rego delivered the welcome speech. Once the compere of the evening Vincent Alva took over the stage, the atmosphere turned into competition mood. He conducted the event in a very professional manner which perfectly suits to any international standard competition.
GVOM Kuwait Semifinalists and Judges Ashith Glen Pinto, Shilpa Cutinha and Wilfred Fernandes were called to the dais, were introduced and judging sheets were handed over by Steevan Misquith, Linette D'souza and Kiran Gonsalves. Trophies were brought to stage and displayed. It was followed by inviting contestants to stage with short introduction and the first round of competition for the 12 participants Sanjay Martis, Kevin Vinson D’Souza, Glen Vas, Glanny Lopies, Shelton Pinto, Collin Vas, Irene Santhumayor, Gloria D’Souza, Shaila Arathi Lobo, Renita Raina D’Mello, Patricia Alphonso and Cynthia Mable Pinto. Linette D'Souza announced the judging criteria for both rounds.
In between the competition, musicians John Kiran Gonsalves (Lead Keyboard), Alwyn Fernandes (Lead Guitar), Joy Fernandes (Rhythm Guitar), Jackson D'souza(Bass Guitar), Ronald Rodrigues(Acoustic Drums), Ethan Fernandes (Keyboard), Joyston D'souza (Congo & percussions), Aaron Gonsalves (percussions) were introduced.
After a nine- year long break, Konkani’s ‘Angelina’ fame Gratian D’Souza's fourth musical album ‘Salam Tuka Kuwaita’ consisting of nine compositions dedicated to prominent Konkani personalities Louis Rodriguez and Johnny Suratkal was released by GVOM Founder Lawrence Pinto along with Ashith Pinto, Rocky D'Souza, Ranjith D'Souza, Steven Misquit and Russel Rodrigues. Gratian has written the lyrics and rendered the tunes. The album is produced under the banner of Alita Creations. Music director Dolwin Kolalgiri has composed the music while mixing and mastering has been done by Srikanth from Daijiworld Audio Visual Studio. Along with Konkani well-known singers Ivan Sequeira, Babita Pinto and Prajoth D’Sa, young singing sensations Nihal Tauro, Jaison Lobo, Cavin Canan D’souza, Lolita Rodrigues, Nisha Fernandes have rendered their melodious voices for the album.
The second round of audition had cord round without music. Contestants of both male and female singers were allowed to chose one of two common songs in each category. Arun Almeida, Wilson Kateel and Loyd Rego were honored for their contribution to Konkani by Fr. Noel D.Almeida. Semifinalists, Musicians, judges and Audition Judges were honored with momentoes. Guest of Honor Arun Almeida, Spiritual director Fr. Noel D'Almeida and Ashith Pinto (on behalf of judges) spoke few words appreciating the event and some guidance to contestants.
After the interval during entertainment part, audience thoroughly enjoyed foot tapping dance by Jhankaar, rib tickling jokes by Lancy Rodrigues, Rajesh Fernandes and Anil Menezes, Live Konkani Band by Soul Stirrers and Konkani Retro musical performance by past GVOM winners, semifinalists and participants which was directed by Konkani's Golden voice Rony D'Cunha and Jasmine D'Cunha. Solo songs by Judges Shilpa Cutinha (Kaliz Gaytha Gana) and Wilfred Fernandes (Adhuri Jini) was added attraction. Vote of thanks was proposed by Rajesh Aranha.
The most awaited time then arrived with the announcement of Shelton Pinto and Gloria D’Souza as the finalists by the judges was welcomed with a huge round of applause and cheer from the audience. The winners were presented with flowers, decorated with sashes and trophies by Fr. Noel D'Almeida, Fr. Blany Pinto and Naveen Ranjith D'Souza.
The audiences were glued to their seat with the nonstop entertained of music, dance and jokes. The sound, lightings and stage with giant LED was eye catching effort by Waves Event Engineering (Anand D'Souza). Music by Muzik Collective was excellent and worth complementing which took the show to a professional standard. The addition of popular music composer and guitarist Allwyn Fernandes Dubai was added flavor to the show.The program was co-compered by Deepak Andrade, Nishitha Andrade and Reena Rego.
