Mangaluru, Oct 2: The 150th Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at St Aloysius ITI on October 2. Students offered prayers at the beginning of the programme. Founder of Snehalaya, Joseph Crastha was invited as chief guest to the programme. St Aloysius ITI director Eric Mathais, principal Vincent Mendonsa, vice principal Alwyn Menezes, training officer Roshan D’Souza were present here.
MD students Santhosh delivered a welcome speech and student Percy Roy D’Souza presented a speech on Bapu’s life and principles. Principal Vincent Mendonsa introduced the chief guest to the gathering. Director Eric Mathais SJ on behalf of the institution honoured the chief guest Joseph Crastha for his selfless service.
Joseph Crastha inspired the students with his life journey from normal bus driver to founder of Snehalaya. He also recounted that Gandhi always wanted to build a good society. There are hundreds of ways to do a good deed to society and all we need is a good heart was his motivational message to the students.
The director motivated the students to serve along with Snehalaya in his president speech. He also added service and helping the poor and needy souls bring real happiness. MD student Udaykumar offered the vote of thanks. Nithesh was the master of ceremony. The programme ended with a National Anthem.
