Ramanagara, Oct 4: JD(S) leaders from this and Channapatna constituencies, from both of which chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy, had got elected, took the latter to task for not being able to address their grievances. They complained about things not getting done in the constituency, officials not heeding to their requests, non-availability of the CM to personally hear their complaints and many other things.
The chief minister had organized a meeting of party activists at his farm house at Kethaganahalli in Bidadi revenue division on Wednesday. It is said that he faced ire of the party workers. Leaders from Channapatna said that the government officials were not paying heed to their requests and that the name of the chief minister does not evoke the response one expects from them. They pointed out that the recommendations made by them in the party letterheads, having been office bearers of the party, seeking to get works needed by the constituency done are not being considered.
Kumaraswamy gave a patient hearing to all the complaints. He said he had decided to come to his home constituency to listen to the local people's grievances before attending to the state's needs. He promised to address all the problems of both these constituencies and assured to provide permanent drinking water project to the district. He also added that the shifting of Rajiv Gandhi University will begin soon. He clarified that this meeting was not meant to choose a party candidate for upcoming bypoll from Ramanagara constituency. He tried to calm down the party people by repeatedly speaking about development programmes. However, the party activists stood their ground and said that although their party is ruling the state, they are not getting any prominence and the the chief minister was not available to hear them.
As the meeting went on, the people continued to argue with the chief minister, as a result of which his patience wore out. He left in an angry mood in the evening without even holding press conference at the end as promised earlier.
